Experience Velo-city 2013

We are happy to be hosting at least 1,300 confirmed conference participants from 60 countries, who will be assembling at the biggest Velo-city conference to date, which will also be the largest cycling-themed professional conference ever held. If you should decide spontaneously to come to Velo-city 2013, there is still space to fit people into the conference venue. What is already fully booked are the technical and cultural excursions around Vienna during Velo-city 2013.

Velo-city 2013 will feature a rich academic program complemented by free and public side events. To plan your conference attendance, please have a look at the full conference program on our website. The program includes all academic program items as well as the public side events.

You will be able to register for Velo-city 2013 starting from Sunday afternoon, 10 June through Friday, 14 June. Please come early to the conference registration already on Monday, 10 June to help avoiding a pile-up at the registration desks. The registration will be open during the following hours:
  • Sunday, 9 June 2013. 3 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Monday, 10 June through Friday, 14 June: 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM

If you have not registered for a conference bike already, please do so as soon as possible by clicking on this link. We also want to inform you that the conference package handed out to every participant will include a spacious bag sponsored by our conference sponsor ABUS, which will be large enough to fit in A3-sized material.

Despite the current flooding in Central Europe, we are busily pedalling on in Vienna to prepare for Velo-city 2013. The conference program in Vienna is not affected by the high water levels, which are falling again around Vienna. As the clouds clear and promise much better weather conditions for next week, we are very much looking forward to hosting you in Vienna.

Networking at Velo-city 2013

Velo-city 2013 will feature a rich and diverse array of delegates with many cultural, geographic and professional backgrounds. We aim to optimally facilitate professional and informal exchange between the participants and have developed specific networking opportunities. To complement your personal networking strategies, we offer three venues for you to exchange with your peers and peers-to-come.

Themed Meeting Points. Informal exchange during conferences may offer the most unexpected and joyful encounters. We want to mix this informal exchange with themed meeting points available in the catering area. Find your peers-to-be with themed hints during the lunch and coffee breaks.

Velo-city 2013 Speed Dating: Dating Cycle. Every presentation of a project or case study will last around eight minutes. Then music is played, and the audience circulates to a new presentation. During the Speed Dating, you will be able to visit about seven presentations. See the conference program for more details.

Cycling Visionaries’ Lounge. Velo-city 2013 has invited 60 Cycling Visionaries as winners of the Cycling Visionaries Awards. They will have their projects presented in the Visionaries’ Lounge located in the catering area. There you can get in touch with their visions for the future of urban cycling.

Garden Party at Kursalon Hübner. An evening of informal exchange and celebration of an exceptional conference that will take place inside Stadtpark Wien at the event location Kursalon Hübner.

Velo-city 2013 Hot Spots

As part of the conference program, 18 ’Hot Spots’ aim to demonstrate best-practice initiatives in Vienna. The information is illustrated on triangular stands, which are accessible 24/7 and can be explored individually anytime.

From 12 to 14 June (12.30-3.30 PM), experts from the City of Vienna will be on-site at all Hot Spots to answer questions or explain information in more detail.

Find information on the Velo-city 2013 ‘Hot Spots’ online.
