Velo-city 2013 Program Highlights!

The Velo-city 2013 conference program unites worldwide expertise on cycling and a broad variety of themes. For the Mayors’ Panel Discussion on Wednesday 12 June, several Mayors and Vice Mayors from cities such as New York, Copenhagen, Bratislava, Prague, Nantes, Munich and Vienna will be joining Velo-city 2013.


A few highlights of the conference program are:

Tuesday 11 June: Podium discussion: Health Benefits and Cycling Economy, hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO)
Wednesday 12 June: Podium discussion: Marriage Counselling: How Bicycles and Public Transport Can Make It Work
Thursday 13 June: Podium discussion: No Bikes on the Balcony! Giving Bikes a Home
Friday 14 June: Lecture: Kids on Bikes: The Future of Cycling

Velo-city 2013 will train a spotlight on Cycling Cities in Southern and Eastern Europe, discussing the boom of cycling in Serbia or the current challenges for cycling on the Balkans, amongst others.

25 plenary speakers will address the assembly at Velo-city 2013. They will include outstanding speakers such as: Philippe Crist (OECD, International Transport Forum) for the Velo-city 2013 keynote, Shipra Narang Suri, Vice-President, International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), or Mikael Colville-Andersen (Copenhagenize Consulting).

Meet the Cycling Visionaries!


218 projects and ideas from 49 countries were submitted for the Cycling Visionaries Awards. 30 Voting Prizes have been awarded based on the results of a global online voting held between 1 and 15 April 2013 with more than 31,000 counted votes. Due to the high quality of submissions, another 30 Vienna Jury Prizes have been additionally awarded, with the Velo-city 2013 Vienna Management Team acting as jury. During the Velo-city conference, you can meet the Visionaries as delegates or presenters and get in touch with them in the Cycling Visionaries Lounge.
